Mass Effect - Shepard Cerberus & Alliance Uniform Costume

As many of you know, Mass Effect is my favorite game of all time. Back in 2011, I wanted to get back into cosplay and I couldn't think of anyone better than Commander Shepard. I didn't want to make armor (mostly because I was intimidated by it at first) so I went the casual look. Both ME2 and ME3 jackets were made by my friend Gena at Eccentric Tortoise Cosplay.

ME2 Cerberus Shepard costume was completed in May of 2011
and worn at SDCC 2011, Wizard World Chicago 2011, Wizard World New Orleans 2012,
E3 2012, SDCC 2012, Dragon Con 2012, MomoCon 2013, Mobicon 2013, and C2E2 2014.

ME3 Alliance Shepard costume was completed in May of 2013
and worn at SDCC 2013, MechaCon 2013, and DragonCon 2013.

Firefly - Jayne Cobb Costume

This costume was completed in April of 2013
and worn at Mobicon 2013, DragonCon 2013, and Wizard World 2014.

I absolutely love Firefly and my favorite character is without a doubt the bring a grenade to a knife fight mercenary, Jayne Cobb. Yet it wasn't until I saw the Karen Hallion drawing (posted below)
that I actually wanted to cosplay as Jayne.

Drawing by Karen Hallion
At first I replicated the drawing...

And then I decided to make it my own...

Mass Effect - M-92 Mantis Prop

I knew immediately that I wanted to make the Cain. So I started with a Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Dart Blaster and began modifying it from there. The end result took nearly two months, about 300 hours of work, and a bunch of mistakes but it looks fantastic. (At least I think it does.)

And the best part... IT STILL SHOOTS FOAM DARTS!
Yup! That's right! Because I didn't disable any of the Nerf parts, it can still shoot!

This prop was completed in August of 2012
and brought to DragonCon 2012, Wizard World New Orleans 2012
and Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention 2013.
